last night i tried to recapture the magic of being small. we were all in prospect park, thirty of us, running around from ian’s house to the pavillion to a grassy area where we all just laid on each others stomachs, to the playground. as me and tehm and fallon dove for the swings, i could sense it. the swings make everyone happy. its intensifying. that one moment, when you’re suspended in air, looking down at the world is like a set of rose-colored glasses. you see things as a child. you see things innocently, without objective. without interference. it’s beautiful.

we were soaring that night. in that one moment, we were all infinite. the chains holding us up were rattling but we weren’t scared. we played suicide and laughed ourselves silly until the swings shook back and forth and became intertwined. in that one moment we were youthful, we were naive, and we were happy.

and then the cops came, telling us the playground was closed. we weren’t drunk, we weren’t high, but they made us get out. i swear, cops ruin it all.
